Hydraulic Products Producer to Grow Its Mishawaka Manufacturing Operations

Daman Products Company, a hydraulic components manufacturer, will expand its operations here, creating more than 20 new jobs and expanded training opportunities for its employees.

The company, a maker of hydraulic valve manifolds, subplates and valve adapters, will upgrade its production operations at its 49,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and invest in training for its more than 100 employees with the help of a $46,000 grant from Indiana's Skills Enhancement Fund.

"Decisions like the one Daman is making to continue to invest in Indiana reflects a growing confidence in the business climate in our state," said Nathan Feltman, secretary of commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Daman, a 2003 recipient of the St. Joseph County Small Business of the Year award, will begin hiring production specialists later this year and plans to being hosting training for new and existing employees in lean manufacturing, 5S methodology and team building in the coming months. The company plans to hire associates at wages starting between $11 and $13 per hour with no prior experience necessary.

"Our team members have been essential in bringing our mission to life. Founded in 1976 by Jack Davis, Daman Products manufactures a range of hydraulic components for products ranging from heavy machinery components to hydraulic manifolds used in amusement park rides.

Daman Products Company is the latest Mishawaka business to expand its operations. In March, Laidig Systems Inc., a manufacturer of silo storage and conveyor systems, announced that it was investing more than $6 million and 45 new jobs in the Northern Indiana city.
